Cinders Gallery is an artist-run non-profit organization based in Brooklyn, NY founded by Sto Len and Kelie Bowman. Since 2004, Cinders has curated over 100 exhibitions, installations, and performances in New York and abroad, including exhibitions in Japan, Australia, and Germany. Working with a loose-knit community of artists that share aesthetic sensibilities and a DIY ethic, Cinders has maintained its focus on providing a more accessible environment for art to be shown. Cinders existed in a physical space in Williamsburg for close to 7 years before leaving due to a rent increase and becoming more project-based with pop-up exhibitions in the Lower East Side, the South St Seaport, Clinton Hill and Bushwick.
